Custom Picture Show The HOBBS Picture Show (Projection Screen) water feature, situated in a sizable body of water and utilizing either a land based or water based (with submersible pump) pumping system, is designed to generate a large projection-quality screen of water for use in night-time presentation of projected (slide, film, or laser) images to large gatherings. This patented jet assembly produces a screen, with a nominal hieght of 25' and width of 50', which can be adjusted to create up to 5 feet of concave displaement at the center, which compensates for normal distortion of images porjected onto a flat screen. Concave displaement also facilitates single or multiple point projection sources. The Projection Screen system can be equipped to produce other water features in addition to, or instead of, the screen in order to create an effective visual display during daylight operation. The electronic system controls can be housed in a direct burial vault (HOBBS #600 Series Pump Station) adjacent to the lake or reservoir, or in an equipment room designed to house projection equipment. The pumping system incorporates a 20 horsepower dry or submersible pump with appropriate control valves. The jet assembly, which has angle and height adjustability in addition to that for concaviety, is mounted iether on a "permanent" structure in the body of water or an a tethered floating structure. A relocatable package can be achieved with the use of a submersible pumping system and a floating jet assembly. The pumping system may be interfaced with the HOBBS #492-Series Wind Compensation system in order to reduce the amount of water lost from wind-blown spray, which it does automatically reducing the size of the screen in moderate wind conditions and cutting it off totally in high wind conditions. |
